Yoga and meditation anyone? I’m all about relaxation and staying zen throughout this year (it’s one of my New Year’s resolutions). I want to make it a priority to remain calm and sane. If everything around me is complete mayhem; I want to make sure that my spirit remains peaceful. I believe that when you go through life with a calm spirit you’ll be better off. You will be better off because you accept that everything happens for a reason and life goes on. I am definitely trying to adopt that attitude in every way this year. What has helped me tremendously with adopting that mentality is yoga and meditation.
Yoga and meditation are great ways to level out your spirit. Breathing through situations rather than immediately reacting produces better results. Personally, I like to meditate in the morning by praying and saying aloud everything I am grateful for. That more than anything is my favorite way to start the day. Sometimes, I’ll throw in a few stretches before my shower just to relax my body. I really enjoy the way stretching makes me feel. I am currently trying to get back into Bikram Yoga as a part of my zen attitude this year. This is a form of yoga that requires you to be in a really hot room and participate in different postures and breathing exercises. The instructor remains at the front of the class and goes through the moves with you. The first time I did it I was blown away. The experience is nothing like I’ve ever done and I enjoyed it. Last year I didn’t make it a priority, but I don’t plan on repeating those actions this year.
Typically, I like to attend Bikram Yoga in the morning! I enjoy wearing tights of any kind, a racerback, and a loose-fitting garment over top. I usually tie a jacket around my waist to keep my tush from being the center of attraction.
I carry a bag with two mini towels, a bunch of ponytail holders, water, and my mat!
