Someone once told her,
“If you want better, go get better.”
She didn’t always understand what that meant because getting better is subjective.
What if getting better meant leaving one bad man, for a lesser bad man to one.
& to another,
What if getting better meant leaving poverty with sane mind, to enter the glitz and glam of insanity.
Could one really go get better if they didn’t have a clear understanding of what better is?
That’s when I tried to tell her,
Baby girl,
I reckon if you leave one bad man for a great man.
You then might be able to turn your I cants,
to I’ll be damned, so I can.
Simultaneously moving through poverty with nothing,
and turning the desire to win into something,
so fruitful that when asked what made her do it,
she looked around at all she finally had and said,
“I took your advice and stuck to it.”
If that’s not understanding what wanting better and going to get it entails,
then let’s call it luck because she weighed her options and tipped the scales.
I guess she figured she always wanted better so, she went to go get it.
Finally realizing there was no other way to begin,
unless she had it in her to finish.
So yes I admit, if you want better, go get better is a bit subjective,
but how else would you know to apply it to your life in a way that’s truly effective.
