We’re three weeks into the latest series on the blog titled, “Sunday Chat” Whoop, whoop! I’m so happy that many of you babes have been loving it so far!
To keep this new series train rolling, I’m back with a new post titled “Making it Official’ so let’s get into it.
“When are we going to make things official?”
It’s the question every guy dreads when he’s been casually dating a girl for a good amount of time.
From a female perspective, this is how we see it and where the question stems from:
Everything’s been going good while getting to know each other.
He makes me smile more than he makes me upset.
I have a sure desire to introduce him as mine.
For girls, it’s only natural that we want to progress. It is not in our nature (at least a majority of the time) to digress. Unfortunately, that constant desire to progress is what guys fear the most. Or rather dread.
But why?
Together, let’s dive deeper into the woes of making it official babes.
I know not every guy feels this way, but it’s beginning to seem like many of them do.
I don’t know if it’s the era we live in today or the fact that guys are just down right scared. If things are going well between yourself and the girl you’ve been dating what is there to dread about the ‘making it official‘ convo?
I’ve always been of the impression that, to have a good partner is to get to experience life with someone who wants to hold your hand through every phase of that life.
Many guys have this irrational fear of what it means to not only be committed to someone, but also what that may look like. There is no perfect time to choose to be in a relationship. Quite honestly, if you’re with a guy who tells you it’s not the right time — there might never be a right time so girl you may want to get to steppin’. Quick fast and in a hurry, okay sis?
Now, those sentiments aren’t exactly applicable when you’re just meeting the guy, so don’t get too too ahead of yourself babe.
The “making it official” conversation is for the two people who have been casually dating with no signs of progression.
See for girls, though we may bullshit at times, we’re almost always very clear about our expectations. However, one can’t always predict the one who’s going to make us desire to be official. Making it a bit difficult to be clear about our expectations in those situations.
However, it’s no reason to duck your tail between your legs and hide.
If it was up to me babes? Men need to be adult enough to no longer dread the ‘making it official’ talk and instead look forward to making things crystal clear — no matter what that may mean or look like.
I hope this post inspires you babes to keep at it, continuing to have the ‘making it official‘ talk with your guys with grit and grace.
As for you guys, I hope you remember one thing:
“He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord” Proverbs 18:22.
To finding good things,
