Tennis Shoes & a Dress

When I was younger I used to wear sneakers all the time (I had these white high top air forces that I wore faithfully), but that changed halfway into sixth grade. For some reason the idea of having my feet enclosed all of a sudden started to freaked me out. I swiftly said “Sayonara” to those bad boys and went on to sandals which were in my book greener pastures. I realized that I preferred sandals much more. Years passed after that and as you can imagine my dislike for tennis shoes intensified. It got so crucial that I even dreaded wearing tennis shoes for gym class for goodness sake. However, in the past year my sentiments on tennis shoes have started to change immensely and you wouldn’t believe why!

It was all by chance really. I reintroduced myself to tennis shoes my sophomore year of college. I couldn’t find any sandals that really went with my red H&M dress (pictured) that I really liked. My pair of unworn converse (P.S. I always bought tennis shoes that looked nice to me, but never actually wore them— ridiculous right) were sitting in the corner of my closet and something told me to try them on. Needless to say, I fell in love. Wearing them can really make a bold or subtle statement depending on the style of the shoes). For this look I was looking for something more subtle (the dress made all the statement needed in my opinion).

Tennis shoes were also more comfortable than I remembered! I’m all about being comfortable and that plays a huge role in clothing choices for me. I’ve owned this dress since my freshman year of college and have worn it three or four times. I have to say that wearing it with a pair of sneakers has been the best combo yet! Do you wear sneakers? What are some of your favorite looks to pair them with? I’d love to hear! Let me know in the comments below.
