REJECTION

Rejection

Parents prepare us for all the triumphs that we will face,

But why aren’t we properly prepared for the rejections that stand in its way.

The rejections that set us back so hard we feel broken inside,

“If you work hard you’ll always win” they said,

Oh how they lied.

The truth is you won’t always win no matter how hard you try,

& when the reality of that sets in,

don’t be afraid to cry.

After all — Rejection is supposed to hurt and burn within,

I don’t think you’d learn a thing if the pain of it happening didn’t at least sink in.

But not to fret, the feeling couldn’t possibly last forever,

A new day is coming and with it such promising weather.

So dust yourself off and land back on your feet,

Mondays are the best days to tackle unexpected defeats.

However there’s one thing I want you to take with you, don’t you ever forget,

I don’t want us back here going over repeated regrets.

Rejection is a hard pill to swallow yes, so take it down as fast as you can,

Believe it or not the loss is the easy part, the real feat is deciding where after you land.
