The 88th annual Academy (Oscar) Awards were last night. Though there was a lot of controversy following the awards due to lack of diversity, the show was beautiful nonetheless. The Oscars 2016 fashion choices gave dresses in previous years a run for their money. Watching the E! Red Carpet pre-show is one of the best parts of the night. I get to have a first hand look at what will be my favorites of the night, so that I can share with you the following day. I’ve come up with a group of my best dressed girls of the night!
Jennifer Lawrence looked so amazing last night. I could not even take how stunning she looked on the red carpet. Her blonde hair was the perfect accessory to her Dior gown. I appreciated the subtle and, yet not so subtle look the gown depicted. The ruching on the lower end of the gown gave way for great detailing without over taking it. The appearance of the entire look was minimal and precise. Obsessed. With this look, Oscars 2016 started off right on point.
Rooney Mara in Givenchy was a HIT. The color, the cut outs, the slits, and the sleeves were EVERYTHING. There’s not much to say, other than the look was perfection. The beading on the front of the dress was my favorite part. Styling her hair in the tiny knot and just a ring for jewelry, allowed more focus to be on the dress than anything else.
All hail Chrissy Teigen in this beautiful Marchesa gown. I’ve always been obsessed with Marchesa gowns because of the femininity they provide. The gowns are always so beautifully detailed and this one is no exception. With Teigen’s belly the center of attraction, as the birth of her child nears; she continues to the rock the carpet. The sheer attachment at the subtle v chest area offered the appropriate amount of sexy without over doing it. The mermaid aspect of the gown clung to her pregnant figure effortlessly. The royal red and sheer combination of the gown gave way for a breathtaking look. To be honest, her stylist Monica Rose never fails to put her clients in something that is sure to take your breath away. The hair and makeup went hand in hand.
Lady Gaga as of late can do no wrong in my eyes. Everything she puts on goes from ashes to gold. I was shrieking over the perfection that was this look last night. She stunned in this Brandon Maxwell creation. Many people may not have noticed that the look was actually pants and not the bottom half of a ball gown. Her skin looked so beautiful against this milk cream-colored fit. The blonde hair she’s been rocking as of late with the drop earrings were the perfect add-ons to her look. Bravo Gaga, bravo!
Rachel McAdams will always be one of my favorite actresses. For as long as I can remember (2005 to be exact), I’ve loved watching her fashions and appearance evolve. The designer of this gown, August Getty Atelier had to have made this especially for her. It works with her body so perfectly. The deep emerald shade of the gown materialized nicely with the color of her skin. The slit and the side boob cut outs really added a nice dash of sensuality without coming across tacky for such a prestigious award show.
Last, but certainly not least; Olivia Munn. Wearing one of my favorite designers; Stella McCartney, Olivia looked effortless. The orange color of the gown wasn’t obnoxious and did well to bring out her tan skin. I loved that with the one shoulder aspect of the gown she skipped out on a necklace. Instead, she opted for a bangle and earrings to complete her look. The hair in the middle part and loose strand of hair on each side made for the perfect not fussy style.
