Okay babes. Before I begin reliving my experience during my night out at my very first blogger event, I want to touch on something very near and dear to my heart.
On Friday night, the state of Texas was hit with a Category 4 Hurricane, also known as Hurricane Harvey. In its wake it left many families in the city of Houston displaced from their homes, losing those they loved to the weather, and in an overall state of fear. Though thankfully I was unaffected by the hurricane/storm, many of my fellow Houstonians weren’t so lucky. As I do my part to begin the process of rebuilding my city and providing what I can for those in need, I urge my readers to do the same. No donation is too small or not sufficient enough. Every thing counts and will go a long way towards providing for families and individuals who have lost most or everything.
If you’d like to make a donation, please visit this website: https://ghcf.org/hurricane-relief/
With your help, better days are ahead for the city of Houston; a place I call home and love so dearly.
Keep reading for my experience on a Night Out with Robbins Brothers for a Good Cause.
Okay so this event, night out at my very first blogger event.
You guys I had soooo much fun. Omg.
The event, hosted by Robbins Brothers was a charity event, thrown to bring light and awareness to the superpower female boosting organization, Girls Inc. If you’re not familiar with them, they are a wonderful organization that attempts to “inspire all girls to be strong, smart, and bold.” That message is near and dear to my heart for just a couple of reasons,
1) It was women like those in this organization during the impressionable parts of my younger years including my mom, that drilled into my spirit that I was strong, smart, and bold.
&
2) I am proof that when you encourage a child (especially a young girl) through your actions and words, it will make a significant difference in the way they grow up.
Getting to hear the message of the Houston branch Girls Inc. was extremely warming to my heart and further solidified my happiness that I attended.
To be honest y’all, I was kind of nervous about going initially. Though I’m a very outgoing person, I found it a tad bit nerve wrecking to step into such an environment for the first time that I was not accustomed to. However, I never let fear rule my life so I put my big girl panties on and worked the event like a G. It was so nice meeting so many lovely bloggers like myself that were just as passionate about their craft as I was.
Connecting with so many boss babes like myself was one of the many pleasurable moments I had during the event.
I also HAVE to shout out the MC of the night, DJ Illset. When I tell y’all this babe was spinning. She had all us gals rocking and swaying all night, the music selection was so good. Though I love American music, I’m Nigerian so I can always appreciate an adding of my African jams to the mix which she did towards the end of the night. For more information on her, check out her Instagram.
Overall, I had a wonderful time at my first blogger event and hope to attend many more in the near future. Definitely a night out well spent, if I do say so myself.
Thank you again to Robbins Brothers for hosting such a wonderful event.
I am now off to glue myself back to local news and find out the latest on everything concerning the hurricane/storm. Sidenote: this is probably the most local news watching I’ve done in my life. Feeling like a responsible adult and I’m diggin’ it.
Let’s chat laters babes.
