LEARN TO SAY NO

No.

No, no, no, no, no. Do you ever just test how saying the word sounds from time to time? I do and I’m not going to lie when I do I get a kick out of it. Not because I’m a weirdo practicing word pronunciation on my free time. LOL. More so that sometimes practicing how to say no makes it easier to say it when a situation requires its usage. Now to some it may seem silly, but there are a few people out there who struggle to say no. I’ve gauged that the struggle stems from either not wanting to hurt someone’s feelings or choosing that person & what they want over themselves. Neither of which make for good choices in the long run. For example —

A friend invites you out next weekend to hang and all you’d rather do is chill in bed… Don’t force the issue. If you really don’t want to go, DON’T.

Just say no. You’ve got to learn to say no y’all.

Or maybe someone needs you to do a favor that would stretch you so thin, you couldn’t even imagine making it through such a hectic day. Again. Don’t force the issue and lose your sanity in the process. Explain your circumstance.

Then just say no.

Sometimes trying to be everyone’s hero and problem solver is downright impossible.

In fact — You can’t be everyone’s captain save-a-hoe.

It’s just too draining and quite a load to carry.

I mean let’s face it. Saying yes isn’t always the most beneficial response to a request or question.

So learn to say no. Learn to choose what’s best for yourself more times than you choose what’s best for another. That doesn’t make you selfish and it definitely doesn’t make you any less empathetic. If anything it makes you cognizant and aware of you.

So have a go at it. You might be surprised by the peace you find in the space that saying yes often usually took up.

To saying no with grace and self awareness,

  • Great idea to literally practice saying "no"! It's a fact that many people find it difficult to say "no". They over-commit and over-extend themselves and end of feeling stressed and overwhelmed. Learning to say "no" and developing strategies to do it without feeling guilty is the key to keeping stress and overwhelm under control.
