HOW TO MAKE STICKING TO YOUR NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTIONS A PRIORITY

Good afternoon babes! So how’s 2019 been treating you guys so far?! Although we’re all only two full days in, it’s worth inquiring about. If you’re like me — many of you have come up with ways (or rather resolutions) to get a jump on making 2019 a year of improvement and growth.

The problem is as much as we try, we’re only human. Meaning, making resolutions is the easy part. Sticking to them? Another battle of its own. However, because I’m so down for making this year one of growth and prosperity (FOR US ALL), I have something for y’all. In today’s post I’m sharing tips on how to make sticking to your new year’s resolutions a priority.

The first tip? Recalling the exact reason you put each resolution on your list to begin with.

For reasons only you can understand with great detail, you felt it necessary to desire change in different areas of your life. Whether that be losing weight, being more decisive, exercising patience — you did so with the goal of improvement in mind. So remember that. There’s nothing like looking forward to change. If you recall what you hope to see as an end result of whatever the resolution, it might make prioritizing it that much easier.

The second tip? Share your resolutions with at least one person you trust.

I know that these days the whole wave is to “move in silence”. Simply meaning, everyone has made it an unspoken rule that you don’t share your goals and aspirations with anyone til they come to fruition. That’s cool and all, but I think sharing with at least one person isn’t so bad. Why? Well, they’ll hold your feet to the fire. That one person (who loves and cares about you), knowing what you hope to achieve in the new year, will be your outer inner conscience. Something like a spoken voice that reminds of you of the resolutions you made when you share things they think threaten accomplishing said resolutions. Our inner conscience we have the ability to disregard at times. The outer conscience in the form of a friend, a bit harder to ignore.

The third tip? Make a conscious effort to live each day of the new year with intent.

These days time seems to be moving so fast. Before we know it, we’ll all close our eyes just for a second and it’ll be March already. That’s how fast time has the ability to escape us. In knowing that, living each day with intent is crucial. If you do, the resolutions you made will be that much easier to accomplish. Because. Each day you will recognize the need to make some step (whether big or small), to incorporate tackling daily goals with intent. Thus making accomplishing an overall resolution that much more attainable.

The final tip? Allow yourself a few days of reprieve & then quickly jump back on the path to prioritizing your resolutions.

As I said when we got the ball rolling in this post. We’re only humans and to think we’ll always have it together is unrealistic. Sometimes, I think the biggest culprit behind losing sight of our new year’s resolutions? We put way too much pressure on ourselves. It’s key to accept that at times you’re going to fall short of your goals and aspirations. There are times when you might not feel like working out. Or you may not have it in you to exercise patience. However, the bigger key to keep in mind? You have to get the freak up when you falter. Recognize that although you may haven fallen short of the promises you made to yourself for the new year — it doesn’t mean that you can’t bounce back and do better next time. I can’t believe I’m about to quote Future (the rapper), but “one pony don’t stop the show.” Those words couldn’t be truer than in this moment.

For all you babes, this is my hope for y’all. That you remember:

To prioritize, is to make a conscious effort to eventually achieve.

I hope reading this gets you all one step closer to prioritizing then achieving your 2019 resolutions.

To making changes that will contribute to the betterment of our lives,
