Got the late night munchies?

Got the late night munchies? This happens usually when you’re studying and need a snack to munch on; watching TV late at night; or just hungry. I always get the late night munchies. There are times when I’m able to resist and other times I just can’t. Luckily I have a system that ensures I make healthy decisions when those cravings come up in the wee hours of the morning. I take on healthy tiny portion sized snacks to curve my appetite and send me straight back to my room satisfied.

Almonds

I’ll be honest. I didn’t particularly like almonds at first. I actually don’t like nuts at all, except these now. I just wasn’t into the texture and the fact that the taste wasn’t quite distinguishable. My mom is a huge fan of them and tried to convince me for forever that not only were they good, but very beneficial to my overall health. The protein packed in them are sure to keep you full throughout the night. Needless to say, they’ve grown on me and they are one of my fave late night munchie.

Eggs

I’m obsessed with eggs. I mean I obvi try not to eat them too much because let’s be honest… the “g” word is a real thing. What’s the “g” word? Please don’t make me say it. Alright, alright. Gas. Besides that, there are no negatives in my eyes. I usually take half of an egg that my mom boiled earlier in the day and use my spoon to break it apart into little pieces. I then sprinkle it with cayenne pepper and now my impromptu snack is ready to go.

Cottage Cheese or Plain Greek Yogurt

This is not just something your Grandma puts in her famous lasagna recipe.  Cottage cheese or Greek Yogurt is something you can use as a substitute for a bowl of ice cream. Topping either with fresh fruits or oats makes it so yummy for less the calories. I chose to top mine with dried cherries, but ultimately the choice is yours!

Bananas

You guys know how much I love bananas. Favorite fruit? Bananas. What fruit goes with everything? Bananas. You guys get my gist. The nutrients in them help relax your muscles and can potentially make you sleepy. As a late night snack it couldn’t be more perfect.
