It’s been 7 years since I applied false lashes for the first time and just thinking about that is W I L D. To be honest saying that aloud as I typed this made me feel a ways. For one, 7 years is a long time and makes me feel kind of old. Two, I’m not sure how I functioned before strips came into my life. Now the latter may be a bit dramatic. BUT, that’s how good eyelash strips are. I’d like to think others agree because I’m ALWAYS getting compliments on mine when I wear them. Compliments ranging from how precise they look (as if I got lash extensions), how well I put them on, and so forth.
SO, keep reading as I put y’all on game 😉 and share my application tips, where I get my strips from, and the secret to my poppin’ false lashes.
As I stated earlier, I started wearing eyelash strips 7 years ago, in the 11th grade to be exact. A friend of mine had always worn them and one day I got so curious that I went and purchased my very first pair. Snagging them from the local CVS was no easy feat, but allowance and legs made all the difference.
Back then, I had no idea why someone would want to wear fake eyelashes. However, after several successful application attempts two things became very clear to me:
1) Lash strips had a way of lifting your overall appearance in the very best way & 2) I was about to start saving a lot of money because I was severing ties with mascara.

SECRET TO MY POPPIN’ LASHES
Now to the real tea. The secret to my luscious lashes? I double and sometimes triple stack my lashes manually. That’s it! I usually take a natural style and pair them with strips on the more dramatic side to achieve the look I’m going for. AND if you’re like me, once I create the perfect pair I reuse the hell out of them. Now I know some might say, “Omg germs…” and blah blah. However, in the seven years that I’ve been wearing false strips I haven’t ever dealt with an eye infection ever.
Additionally, some may pose the “If you love lashes so much and wear them so religiously — Why don’t you just get eyelash extensions?” question.
I’ve actually tried eyelash extensions before and to be honest they were cute initially, BUT. The feeling didn’t last for long. I’d like to think I’d grown so accustomed to strips and being able to take them off, that not being able to was challenging for me. I constantly felt like putting in the effort to maintain them would prove expensive and tiring. SO lash strips it’ll be.
As always, I hope this post was detailed and informative. Coment below if you have any additional questions for me or want to chat about something I didn’t cover in today’s post.
In the meantime, I’ll be catching up on the latest episode of Southern Charm: New Orleans and writing Wednesday’s blog post.
