Y’all dad sneakers are trending hard af these days and I’m not ashamed to admit that I’m loving every second of it. To be honest, how could you not?

With the right outfit, it’s sure to take things to the level 90’s dads could only dream of.

I mean yes. I’ll acknowledge this one fact right now before anyone else has a chance to. They do have the ability to make your feet look huge, but with the right outfit who’s really going to care?

Since, taking over the fashion scene late last year and early this year… many of us millennial babes can’t get enough of these dad sneakers.

But in today’s post I’m here to answer the why part of this fashion trend.

Why has it become such a huge fashion phenomenon? Why are all us millennial babes so obsessed? Why are dad sneakers back in style?

Keep reading as I breakdown my view on why dad sneakers are trending hard af right now (with no chance of letting up anytime soon).

SO here’s the thing.

Dad sneakers are trending hard af because we are in an era that wants so badly to revert to the past. Tell me you haven’t seen all the reboots coming back to Disney channel in the last six months?! Not to mention the movies being recreated/reformatted. This generation is obsessed with going back and revisiting all the things that came along during those times. Particularly the fashion trends.

AND if I haven’t made it clear, I am here for it.

No one during the early 90’s knew it then, but Dad sneakers were a fashion trend. One that everyone was in on without even realizing it.

So much so that to not see a dad or even a mom at the grocery store during that time without them on… well it was just unheard of. Hell, my parents were one of those peeps and up until recently were holding on to their “dad sneakers” like their life or everyday errands depended on them.

LOL.

To be an adult in the 90’s.

Nevertheless, dad sneakers are vital to this generation.

For one it allows us to go back and re-live a time period we loved so much. Secondly, our parents may have been on to a few things back then (fashion, music, etc).

Am I right or am I right?

I have a feeling that though this is the first trend from that era to really stick, it surely won’t be the last.

It also doesn’t hurt that because they’re so trendy, getting your hands on a pair isn’t challenging at all.

Though a lot of babes are snagging the popular Balenciaga dad sneakers ($$$$) — you don’t have to do that to get in on the trend. Hell, I snagged my very own pair of “dad sneakers” from here (linked similar).
